Registrations for the forthcoming 6th annual New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference on May 31, 2012 at the Pullman Auckland are 15% up compared to that at the same time last year according to co-hosts Tourism Industry Association and Horwath HTL Ltd.

The conference, the only one dedicated to the New Zealand hotel industry has also exceeded the sponsorship and exhibition levels of last year’s event, say the organizers, demonstrating the wide support for the conference and benefits it provides to its 20 sponsors and exhibitors and 250 attendees which include operators, owners, investors, developers, bankers, valuers, real estate firms and consultants.

The hotel conference, whose platinum sponsor is Accor, will hear 20 international and domestic speakers and decision makers discussing key issues impacting the New Zealand hotel industry and how to manage them. Keynote speakers include Gaurav Bhushan (Chief Development and Investment Officer for Accor, based in Singapore), Cameron Bagrie (Chief Economist at ANZ Bank), and Stephen Hamilton (a director of Horwath HTL Ltd).

Plenary and panel sessions will include:
-Rebuilding of the hotel and tourism industry in Christchurch;
-Leadership in hotels focusing on the role of the General Manager and has it changed;
-Outlook for technology in hotels, including a presentation by Ted Horner, an internationally renowned speaker and consultant;
-Asia markets including best distribution channels to attract visitors to New Zealand; and
-Operator expansion, including what’s in store for New Zealand.

The conference dinner will again include three New Zealand hotel awards –
for Senior Hotel Executive of the Year, Outstanding Young Hotel Executive and Environmental Initiative celebrating excellence in the hotel industry in New Zealand.

Registrants to the New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference will gain complimentary entry to the technical seminar on the afternoon of the Wednesday (30 May) prior to the conference.
