The Accommodation Association of Australia has announced that entries are open until September 19 for their refreshed annual accommodation awards – the Accommodation Achievers’ Awards 2012.

“This year we wanted to do something different”, said Accommodation Association of Australia (AAA) CEO, Richard Munro.

“Our focus will be on putting the fun back into our industry awards and celebrating the hard working people that dedicate themselves to Australia’s vibrant and dynamic accommodation industry.”

Entries open today for eight people-based categories in addition to the Hostplus Aces Awards. According to AAA, submissions this year will take an innovative approach via a three minute video of the entrant at their workplace.

“Videos should show the entrant undertaking their daily duties and describing the best part of their role, the skills they have acquired and generally demonstrating passion for the industry they work in… creativity is encouraged in the video making process” the Association said.

Munro added: “Our aim is to reinvigorate the customary awards format and introduce a new platform. We believe that it’s possible to celebrate the talented people in our industry whilst retaining a sense of excitement.

“Our goal is to make this year’s event fresh, fun and entertaining for all involved which is a direct reflection of the industry we represent,” Munro said.

Entries close on Wednesday 19 September and this year’s awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday 17 October, following AHICE.
