Parkroyal on Pickering lobby EDITED

Parkroyal on Pickering in Singapore, owned and managed by Pan Pacific Hotels Group, won two key awards at the recent HICAP conference in Hong Kong.

The property took out the Reggie Shiu Development of the Year Award and the Sustainable Project Design Award.

Now in its ninth year, the Reggie Shiu Development of the Year Award, voted on by delegates prior to the conference, recognises the single development of the year representing the accomplishments of material market impact in a variety of ways including scale, innovation, quality, performance and return on investment.

The SGD$350 million Parkroyal on Pickering was conceptualised with UOL Group Limited, the parent company of Pan Pacific Hotels Group, and designed by Singapore architectural firm WOHA.

The 367-room hotel has performed commendably as a striking and differentiated product in a competitive market since its January 2013, opening.

Parkroyal on Pickering features 15,000 square metres of cascading greenery, reflecting pools, waterfalls, planter walls and four-storey high solar-powered lush sky gardens, constituting more than twice its land area.

The hotel has also adopted an array of environmentally friendly features including rain harvesting, the use of motion sensors to conserve energy, an in-house water purification system and a waste recycling program.

For its sustainable and visually arresting building design, which embodies the Parkroyal brand pillars of modern comforts and authentic local connections, Parkroyal on Pickering was also named a winner of the 2013 HICAP Sustainable Project Design Award.

“We are deeply honoured by the resounding recognition Parkroyal on Pickering has received from the 2013 HICAP awards’ judges and conference delegates,” said Pan Pacific Hotels Group Chief Financial Officer and Head of Business Development, Neo Soon Hup.

“Winning these two prestigious awards will spur us on to pioneer more cutting-edge developments that continue to excite customers and invigorate the global hospitality landscape.”

The HICAP Sustainable Hotel Awards were launched in 2007 with the aim of recognising hotel operators and developers in the Asia Pacific region who demonstrate exemplary sustainable practices as well as environmentally and culturally responsible development.

Winners are chosen by a panel of judges comprised six leading professionals from the fields of architecture, sustainable development, responsible tourism and conservation.
