Mantra Group has continued to expand its regional network, signing a new management agreement in Wollongong.

The Best Western Wollongong will rebrand to Mantra Wollongong mid-March after acquisition by new owners Moss Capital.

The property will be the second management agreement undertaken between Mantra Group and Moss Capital, having previously partnered on Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge following its purchase in 2012.

“We have a diverse mix of regional locations in the Mantra hotel network and we are pleased to now announce our first property on the NSW South Coast,” said Mantra Group CEO, Bob East.

“Mantra Wollongong will provide both an excellent base for leisure travellers given its proximity to beaches and restaurants, and also to guests travelling on business or for conferences in the Illawarra.

“We view Wollongong as one of the most significant regional markets in Australia and we have confidence in the region and its continued growth and development as a major regional hub. We look forward to bringing the Mantra brand into this market,” he said.

It will be business as usual with management and staff at the property which offers fully self-contained one and two bedroom apartments, a rooftop deck and entertaining area plus conference and meeting rooms for up to 80 people, all located in the heart of Wollongong CBD.

Opened in 2008, the hotel will undergo a series of upgrades to rooms and facilities over the next nine months to ensure it remains a hotel of choice for the region.

Marianne Ossovani, Executive Director of Hotels, Tourism and Leisure for Moss Capital, said the new addition to the portfolio was both a positive step for the group and the region.

“The Mantra brand is a well-known and respected mid-market hotel brand and we look forward to bringing the expertise and profile to the property and to the city of Wollongong,” she said.

Ideally situated opposite the Wollongong train station with “The Gong” free shuttle stopping nearby and complimentary security onsite parking, Mantra Wollongong is the ideal hotel of choice when visiting the Illawarra region.

Mantra Wollongong will join a growing portfolio of over 50 Mantra hotels and resorts across Australia located in all capital cities and coastal holiday regions such as Cairns, the Gold Coast, Kingscliff, Ettalong Beach and Lorne.
