Alpha Mosaic Hotel in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, is set to open on June 23, HM can reveal.

Speaking exclusively to HM, Alpha Hotels and Resorts Managing Director, Jonathan Wooller, said the property, which was originally signed as a Grand Chifley, would open on schedule next month.

“It’s a project I’ve been working on for a long time,” said Wooller, formerly the head of SilverNeedle’s Australian operations.

“This has been a labour of love and I’m keen to get it open and running on June 23,” he said.

The Alpha Mosaic Hotel will feature 51 rooms and 213 apartments and the project has been one of Fortitude Valley’s most significant in recent years.

“It’s an exciting project for the company and we now have a nice cluster of hotels,” he said.

Alpha also operates properties in Western Sydney (Alpha Eastern Creek) and greater Canberra (Alpha Canberra in Tuggeranong).

Wooller said Alpha Hotels, which was launched in late 2013 by the MD alongside Managing Partner Bruce Holliday, would grow in the coming years.

“It is our intent to grow the business,” he told HM. “Another acquisition over the next 12 to 24 months would make sense.

Wooller said a number of regions were on the radar for the company.

“We are looking at markets that are under-performing from an acquisition point of view,” he said, adding Sydney, the Gold Coast and Melbourne all “make sense”.

“We are also looking at a number of resort locations in the 4.5-star segment,” he said.

The veteran Hotelier said the team at Alpha Hotels was “not trying to create a classic hotel management company” promising “there will be no hidden surprises on fees”.

Wooller said the company was looking at a range of development opportunities, spanning management, joint ventures and acquisitions.
