TFE Hotels is enjoying its biggest ever development pipeline as it prepares for the opening of two new hotels this year and another 16 hotels in the next five years in Australia, New Zealand and Germany. It is also negotiating at least 10 other projects.

CEO Rachel Argaman said the financial year to 30 June 2016 had proven to be another landmark year in the evolution of the company’s six hotel brands and in expanding its development pipeline.

TFE Hotels has plans for five new Adina Apartment Hotels in Australia – one at the historic former Pentridge Prison site near Melbourne and others at Fremantle, Western Australia, Macquarie Park at North Ryde, Australia Square in Sydney and at Queens Wharf in Brisbane. Last year it opened the chic Adina Apartment Hotel Auckland, Britomart.

Ms Argaman said the company had big expansion plans for Europe, where it became the first Australian group to operate hotels when it opened a hotel in Budapest in 1998 and an Adina Apartment Hotel in Copenhagen in 2005, followed by another five in Germany.

“We are very excited to open the doors of two new Adina Apartment Hotels in Frankfurt and Nuremburg this October and November, then in Leipzig and Hamburg in 2017, and later in Munich,” she said. “We are evaluating a number of other development opportunities in Germany as we speak.”

This year the rollout of the next generation of Vibe Hotels will continue, when the refurbished Vibe Hotel Rushcutters is unveiled in Sydney next month and new hotels are built at North Sydney’s Northpoint and Hobart in 2018. This builds on the success of the award-winning Vibe Hotel Canberra Airport which opened last year.

The new Travelodge Hotels’ “Refreshingly Simple” brand refresh also continues, with a new hotel to open at Sydney Airport next year.

Ms Argaman said Brisbane had been a challenging market because of increasing supply of hotel stock, with 774 new rooms released to the market in a year.

“However, our belief in Brisbane’s future is shown in our plans to operate two flagship hotels there in the next two years – an Adina Apartment Hotel in a beautiful heritage building at the redeveloping Queens Wharf and sleek and sophisticated The Calile at James St in Fortitude Valley, under our TFE Hotels Collection brand,” she said.
