Following a complete redesign by internationally renowned designer, Nic Graham, Yamagen, located at QT Gold Coast, is now bringing boisterous welcomes, smoking kushiyaki grills and the electric vibe of downtown Toyko to Surfers Paradise from July 28.

Blending old school kitchen samurai skills with new school chef invention, Yamagen reinvents a traditional Japanese izakaya with a stylish and innovative twist. Spanning three unique spaces (the bar, table-seki and sushi counter) Yamagen’s culinary journey is crafted by chefs Yoshihiro Yamazaki, Mitsuo Yoshino, Kei Sato and Shintaro Kosugi.

Offering a long list of craft beers, top-shelf sake, Japanese whiskies and cutting-edge cocktails, like the Utsumi Sour (Tanqueray gin, peach liqueur, aomomo peach, lemon) and the Dragon Ball (shochu, pomegranate liqueur, yuzu, lime, eggwhite) the bar is the perfect place for the thirsty to start and finish their evening.

Seating up to 76 guests and serving dishes such as Sashimi Tacos and Master Kobe Wagyu MS9+ straight from the kushiyaki grill, table-seki is the restaurant’s main dining area and the best place to take advantage of the full Yamagen experience.

With a limited capacity (15 guests), the sushi counter is Yamagen’s exclusive dining space. Here, guests experience an authentic omakase – a stream of market fresh sashimi and sushi, as well as delicate share plates, like Yellowfin Tuna Tartare – expertly selected by the chef.

Regardless of where you start or finish, Yamagen embodies true Japanese omote-nashi – the art of hospitality. It’s all about exceptional food, an electric atmosphere and an interactive dining experience.
