By James Wilkinson at Meetings 2014 in Auckland
Auckland Tourism’s chief says the city has had its best visitor season ever, driven by leisure, major events and key conferences.
Speaking exclusively on camera to HM at the Meetings 2014 trade show in Auckland last week (Jun 19), Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development Limited (ATEED) CEO, Brett O’Riley, said hotel occupancies have been at unprecedented levels and events such as the Auckland Rugby League Nines have significantly boosted visitor numbers.
In the exclusive interview, he also spoke about 2015, which will be the city’s “biggest year ever” and much more.
Meetings 2014 played host to 620 PCOs and 185 New Zealand exhibitors who got together for over 6,000 scheduled meetings.
