Mantra Group’s CEO Bob East says this week’s announcement the company has been appointed to manage a new 136-room hotel at Sydney Airport is the start of big things to come.
The new limited service hotel at 3 Ross Smith Avenue is due to commence construction in April 2016 and Mantra beat a number of international and local brands to the contract.
“It’s a brilliant start to the year,” he told HM. “We’ve been working on a large number of acquisitions and our plan was to add to our Sydney portfolio.
“The market looks very encouraging and we have unprecedented opportunity to add large hotels in key markets,” he said.
The Sydney Airport deal comes just weeks after Mantra was announced as the operator of new Australian brand Tribe Hotels’ upcoming portfolio, which includes properties in Perth (set to open in December 2016) then Melbourne and Hobart.
