Australia’s second Hilton Garden Inn and first on the east coast has been signed and will be developed in the north-east suburb of Bundoora, around 20kms from the Melbourne CBD.
Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora is a partnership with Dealcorp (LG) Pty Ltd with Hilton managing the newbuild 168-room property, which will feature as part of Polaris 3083, an enormous 26-acre masterplan development which will incorporate low-rise residential, a dining and retail precinct, parklands and city access through bus and tram links.
The hotel itself will offer guest facilities including an all-day restaurant and bar, fitness centre and 127 square metres of event and meeting space.
Hilton Vice President Operations, Australasia, Heidi Kunkel, said the company was thrilled to be bringing the Hilton Garden Inn brand to Melbourne.
“We are deeply committed to the Melbourne market and expanding Hilton’s presence beyond our existing DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne – Flinders Street. The signing of Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora, along with the newly signed Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street and Hilton Melbourne Square properties, further solidifies this commitment.”
In addition to serving the local business and industrial community, the new hotel will also sit close to La Trobe University, with the institution’s Vice President of Strategy, Natalie MacDonald, saying it aligned with the university’s vision to create more jobs, innovation and economic growth in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora is on track to open in the first quarter of 2021.
