TFE Hotels will double the presence of its Travelodge brand in New Zealand from 28 October as doors are opened to guests for the first time at Travelodge Hotel Auckland Wynyard Quarter.
Situated in the city’s renewed urban waterfront, the 154-room hotel is the first in a development of six buildings as part of a mixed-use commercial and residential site by transport and infrastructure developer, Infratil.
Featuring a large, warehouse-like lobby with 4.5 metre ceiling, the hotel becomes the second Travelodge in New Zealand, with the first currently operating in Wellington.
The hotel’s opening comes just before a year-long nautical calendar of events to take place on Auckland Harbour celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, which will be capped off with the 36th contesting of the America’s Cup in March 2021.
TFE Hotels Executive Development Manager, Michael Herman, said the hotel ticks all the boxes and offers something for all market demographics.
“It’s just a winner of a location – especially for Travelodge Wynyard Quarter guests, who won’t be paying the earth nor wanting or asking for anything when they’re there,” he said.
“Wynyard Quarter is the gateway to everything and Auckland’s first taste of a funky, bohemian, industrial-chic neighbourhood…the likes of which have never been seen here before,” said Peddlethorp Associate Director, Manuel Diaz, architects of Travelodge Auckland Wynyard Quarter.
“We’re witnessing an exciting process of urban renewal whereby a whole heap of historical industrial buildings are being repurposed – a bit like Southbank in Melbourne.”
