Dorsett Hospitality International has recruited experienced hotelier, Michael Foster, as the opening General Manager of its entry into the Australian market at Dorsett Gold Coast.
The brand will make its debut as the third tower currently being developed at The Star Gold Coast site on Broadbeach Island. The AUD$400 million, 53-storey hotel and residential apartments tower will feature 316 hotel rooms and 423 one and two-bedroom apartments and is due to open in 2022.
Dorsett Gold Coast will be the second hotel opening for Foster, who moves to the role having recently completed the opening of Holiday Inn Express Brisbane as its General Manager. He brings more than 15 years in the hotel sector to his new role and will report directly to Dorsett Hospitality Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Jessop.
Prior to Holiday Inn Express Brisbane, Foster held senior roles with IHG Hotels and Resorts including Director of Sales at InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. He has also held management roles at Pan Pacific Hotels Group and Accor in his 15 years in the industry.
Speaking of his new role, Foster said he was excited at the opportunity to bring a great global brand to Australia.
“The Gold Coast has been without much new stock in recent years and Dorsett Gold Coast will certainly make an excellent addition to the city’s skyline,” he said.
“The Dorsett brand centres around a sense of community and vibrancy, and we aim to deliver a memorable, local experience to all of our guests.”
As General Manager of Dorsett Gold Coast, Foster will be tasked with all pre-opening responsibilities to ensure the successful introduction of the brand before transitioning into the day-to-day running of the property, operations and service delivery to guests.
Andrew Jessop said Foster brings a “fresh and dynamic energy to the company and his expertise and dedication to personal service will play a significant role in launching the brand into the country and ultimately enhancing the experience of our team members and guests”.
