Marriott’s long-awaited W Sydney hotel is set to open to guests in October 2023.
After many delays in the construction of the hotel, W Sydney General Manager, Craig Seaward, confirmed the opening date this week, saying it will be “worth the wait”.
“We are incredibly excited to confirm our opening date for W Sydney in October 2023,” he said.
“There have been delays, but trust me, it will be worth the wait.”
Earlier this year, construction of the wider The Ribbon development at Darling Harbour, which also includes an IMAX theatre and retail, came to a grinding halt when the previous builder, Probuild, went into administration. In July, Australian property developer Greaton appointed Multiplex to complete the build.
The luxury hotel will feature a grand total of 585 rooms, suites and ultra-luxe suites with a marine-inspired palette, azure bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes, and modern décor.
The rooms embrace asymmetry, incorporating the curves and lines of the hotel’s architecture. The brand says, “no two rooms are the same” and that they will “set a new design benchmark for the city”.
Award winning interior specialists, Bowler James Brindley is behind W Sydney’s original accommodation, restaurant, bars and venues, described as “a beacon of bold, sophisticated design”.
The hotel will include an infinity pool with dramatic colours and patterns, a two-storey rooftop bar that reflects the energy of the city, and the on-site restaurant will have touches of “expressive concrete and street art”.
Seaward believes the hotel will offer a unique experience for visitors to Sydney.
“It’s a luxury hotel with a new perspective, one that not only connects deeply with its host city and its urban setting but is also imbued with a sense of freedom and possibility,” he said.
“To cross the threshold of W Sydney will be to enter an exciting new world of creativity, design, culture and connection. We simply can’t wait to welcome our guests.”
