Colliers is pleased to present our latest New Zealand Hotel Market Snapshot.

The New Zealand hotel market continues on its strong recovery path on the back of a full opening of the country’s borders and a gradual ramp up of international airline capacity.

Recovery has thus far been driven by strong room rates across the country and despite recovery in Occupancy still lagging, 3 of the 5 main regions have now recorded quarterly RevPAR above the corresponding period in 2019. 

All indications are now suggesting that we will see an earlier than anticipated recovery to pre-pandemic levels.


On the investment side, with aggressive increases to the Official Cash Rate (OCR) from 0.25% to 3.5% since July 2021 has resulted in a uncharacteristically subdued investment market with many purchasers reviewing their required returns.
