Our CEO, Craig Coughlin, is very passionate about hotels and has been in the industry since 1990 when he first commenced his career at Parkroyal on StKilda Road in Melbourne.
For the past 12 years, Craig has been involved in providing outsourced housekeeping services to hotels as opposed to working directly in hotels. One of his pet hates is poor hotel design and in particular when new hotels open that are very inefficient buildings and will add thousands of dollars each week in higher wage costs.
Craig has been providing advice to some of our current clients very early in the design timeline with new build projects and ensuring that the architects and designers factor in critical aspects to ensure that the housekeeping cost per occupied room (CPOR) will be controlled once the operator opens the doors to guests and for years to come. And let’s not forget that technology is critical in any hotel but for some reason every new hotel opens without good tech for housekeeping!
Other key factors Craig has consulted on include appropriate surface finishes, lighting, furniture design and placement, bathroom fitouts and efficient back of house setups. All of these things, if done wrong, can be labour intensive and ultimately cost the hotel operator much, much more in wages.
If you are a Hotel Architect, Hotel Operator or Hotel Developer and would like LUXXE to be part of your design process for new hotel projects, please reach out to Craig Coughlin at craigc@luxxe.com.au or visit www.luxxe.com.au
