Members-only hotel brand Soho House has confirmed that it will make its Australian debut in Sydney’s Darlinghurst, building on its portfolio of more than 40 locations globally.
In a website update on Thursday evening, Soho House revealed that the venue, near Sydney’s entertainment district of Oxford Street, will offer five floors for members to meet and mingle.
“Soho House is all about new horizons, which is why we’re committed to expanding our community, one new House at a time,” the company said.
“Situated a stone’s throw away from Sydney’s Oxford Street in a creative and cultural hub between Darlinghurst and Surry Hills, Soho House Sydney is set to be our first House to open in Australia.
“A redevelopment of an existing building, the House will provide a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces spread across five floors, with dedicated areas for members to eat, drink and socialise.
While Soho House did not confirm the expected opening date or the precise location of its Sydney ‘House’, previous reports indicate that 256 Crown Street is the likely choice.
The company has also begun spruiking its Cities Without Houses (CWH) membership to Australian consumers promising local community events in Sydney and Melbourne hosted by Soho House, including its upcoming SXSW Soho Residency.
CWH members can also access global Soho House locations while travelling.
Over the next 12-14 months, Soho House will open new properties in Portland, Sao Paolo, Manchester, Miami, Charleston and Glasgow, with a property in Rhinebeck, New York, also on the horizon, although no opening date has been confirmed.
