Global adventure lodge collection Eleven is expanding its presence in New Zealand with the acquisition of Owen River Lodge – its second property in the country and 13th globally.
Located in the northern region of the South Island – near the world-renowned Marlborough wine region – the lodge is positioned on the banks of the Owen River, between three major national parks.
Founded in 2003 by fly fishing legend Felix Borenstein, the award-winning angling lodge is known for its brown trout sight fishing, a legacy that Eleven intends to continue with the support of its experienced angling guides
“While New Zealand is the pinnacle of trout fishing, Owen River Lodge is arguably the best place in the world for sighted brown trout fishing,” said Eleven’s Angling Operations Manager, Cameron Davenport.
“This is because of the sheer number of river systems as well as the number of true trophy fish within those systems—nearly 30 fisheries—all uniquely accessible from the lodge by both car and heli.”
The lodge features six rooms within three standalone cottages offering views of the water, the valley and Kahurangi National Park.
The sophisticated and understated design creates a relaxed atmosphere with tall ceilings, handcrafted woodwork and fine art throughout.
Guests can enjoy the riverside lounge and gardens, hot tub and massage treatments as well as experience hiking, whitewater rafting and wine tasting.
Farm-to-table dining is available with ingredients sourced from the onsite gardens and sustainably sourced New Zealand wine on offer.
Owen River Lodge will complement Eleven’s Cedar Lodge which is famed for its world-class helicopter-assisted angling.
