IHG Hotels and Resorts celebrated the official opening of InterContinental Auckland on Tuesday January 30 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by The Mayor of Auckland, Wayne Brown.
IHG Hotels and Resorts Managing Director – Australasia and Pacific, Matthew Tripolone, Precinct Properties CEO, Scott Pritchard, and InterContinental Auckland General Manager, Ryan South, were in attendance for the event, which included a welcome from Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.
“We are delighted to open the doors to InterContinental Auckland,” said Tripolone.
“The hotel will contribute to the local economy, and we believe that the power of the world’s largest luxury hotel brand family will bring business and leisure travellers from around the world.”
Located at One Queen Street in Auckland’s CBD, the 139-room hotel will complete the NZ$1 billion Commercial Bay lifestyle precinct.
The opening marks Precinct Properties first hotel project.
“The opening of InterContinental Auckland and Advieh Restaurant and Bar is very exciting for Precinct Properties as it is the first time we’ve ventured into the hotel industry,” said Precinct Properties CEO, Scott Pritchard.
The hotel’s signature restaurant Advieh Restaurant and Bar, with Gareth Stewart at the helm, will offer a contemporary twist on Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine using New Zealand’s finest produce.
Guests will have the opportunity to experience a similar culinary experience through the in-room dining offering, and Advieh will influence the hotel’s Club InterContinental lounge opening mid-2024.
“We are excited by the incredible local and international enthusiasm for the hotel and look forward to welcoming guests to stay and dine,” said InterContinental Auckland General Manager, Ryan South.
