Hilton is set to open a DoubleTree by Hilton property in Tasmania in the second half of 2024 following a signing with Fragrance Group Limited.
Construction of the 206-room Hobart hotel, which is within walking distance of the CBD, is at an advanced stage, according to Hilton.
Targeting both business and leisure travellers, DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart will feature a restaurant and bar, two versatile meeting rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
“We are thrilled to bring the DoubleTree by Hilton experience to Hobart,” said Hilton Area Vice President and Head of Australasia, Paul Hutton.
“This hotel is not only a testament to our commitment to expanding our footprint in Australasia, but also our dedication to providing exceptional hospitality in prime locations.
“With the property situated closely to the CBD and the waterfront, our guests will have the best of Hobart right at their doorstep.”
Fragrance Group Chairman, James Koh, said the hotel will be a unique addition to Hobart’s tourism offering.
“We are excited to bring yet another new brand offering to Tasmania with the very first Hilton branded hotel [in the state], Koh said.
“We can’t wait to unveil this exquisite hotel to Tasmanians and those visiting Hobart.”
Hilton’s Regional Director, Development, Australasia, Tushar Raniga, said there was much consideration given to the brand and location.
“This signing highlights our strategy of positioning the right brands in the right locations, with the right partner and DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart is set to become a landmark in the city offering our guests a unique and immersive experience of Hobart’s rich culture and history,” Raniga said.
The latest signing comes as DoubleTree by Hilton surpasses 100 properties in the Asia Pacific region, with nearly 80 additional properties in the pipeline. Hilton said the upscale full-service brand growth will help the company achieve its ambition of surpassing 1,000 trading hotels in the region by 2025.
“The expanding footprint of DoubleTree by Hilton – now with more than 100 properties in Asia Pacific – reaffirms Hilton’s commitment to delivering warm hospitality and thoughtful service, catering to the dynamic needs of business and leisure travellers in gateway cities,” said Hilton Senior Vice President, Development, Asia Pacific, Clarence Tan.
“Our expanded franchise model paves the way for further growth, as we stay focused on delivering reliable and friendly stays to guests, and best-in-class returns to owners,” Tan said.
“We are optimistic about the brand’s growth momentum and look forward to capturing even more opportunities in this segment.”
Recent and upcoming hotel openings across the region include DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta Kemayoran and DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta Bintaro Jaya in Indonesia; DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Station and DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka Castle in Japan; DoubleTree by Hilton Bengaluru Whitefield in India and DoubleTree by Hilton Yantai Golden Coast in China.
“With our 100th property milestone, DoubleTree by Hilton’s continued growth in the region promises warm, friendly and approachable hospitality to even more guests,” said Hilton Vice President, Brand Management, Full Service, Asia Pacific, Vincent Ong.
“As one of the fastest-growing Hilton brands in Asia Pacific, we are excited to deliver a double dose of comfort, starting from the moment guests come through our doors to receive our signature warm chocolate chip cookie right until they check out.”
