Karl Marshall joins InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto
InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto has welcomed experienced hotelier Karl Marshall as its new General Manager.
A New Zealand native with over 20 years of experience in luxury five-star hotels, Marshall’s career journey has taken him from Australia to Tanzania, South Africa, UAE, and Oman.
As a result, he has developed unique expertise in strategic and operational hotel leadership, working with diverse and multicultural teams worldwide.
Prior to joining InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto, Marshall served as General Manager at The Langham, Melbourne.
“I look forward to working with the great team at this iconic and much-loved Melbourne hotel and meeting many of the guests who have enjoyed visiting the InterContinental Melbourne over the years,” said Marshall.
Minor Hotels names Australian national for Maldives GM role
Minor Hotels has appointed Judd Rabbidge as the new General Manager of Avani and Fares Maldives Resort, effective July 2024.
“We are thrilled to welcome Judd Rabbidge to the Avani and Fares Maldives team,” said Minor Hotels Cluster General Manager for the Maldives, Stuart De San Nicolas.
“His track record of success and deep understanding of the industry make him an excellent fit for this role, and his background in sales and marketing will be instrumental in driving revenue growth and enhancing brand visibility in this highly competitive market.”
An Australian national, Rabbidge served as the pre-opening Hotel Manager at W Sydney, the world’s largest W Hotel and previously held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing at W Bali – Seminyak. His tenure included managing operations at two other Marriott properties in the region, where he achieved high guest satisfaction scores and drove profitability.
Earlier in his career, Rabbidge held various senior management roles with Mantra Group.
This appointment marks Rabbidge’s first General Manager position.

Mandala welcomes new Commercial Performance Officer
Regional hotel group, Mandala Hotels and Resorts, has named Gemma McCourt as Commercial Performance Officer (CPO).
A seasoned hotel professional, McCourt brings a wealth of experience and a people-centric approach, according to Mandala.
