City of Moreton Bay, located in the heart of booming South East Queensland, has a significant undersupply of full-service hotel rooms to meet a growing overnight visitor market.

Rapid population growth, which is expected to grow by 300,000 to 800,000 people by 2041, incredible beaches and hinterland escapes, a calendar of major annual events, and home to National Rugby League’s newest team, The Dolphins, according to City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery are the major drawcards for a record number of visitors.

“With 4.6 million annual visitors, more than double the total visitors to Noosa, City of Moreton Bay has a big hotel opportunity, where the demand for short-term accommodation could right now support an additional 10 hotels and more than 1,500 rooms,” Mayor Flannery said.

“Positioned directly across from the strong performing Westfield North Lakes, featuring IKEA and Costco, the site is ideally located 25 kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD, 20 minutes from the Brisbane Domestic and International airports and 30 minutes from the Sunshine Coast, to deliver a landmark tourism and hospitality development for residents and visitors,” Mayor Flannery said.

“Council is seeking expressions of interest from qualified groups with the capacity and track record for delivering and or operating a range of land uses and project outcomes that are consistent with our vision for the site.

Council is committed to supporting the successful proponent and will provide flexible commercial terms to ensure early activation of the site and a high-quality development outcome,” Mayor Flannery said.

This property located at 28-40 North Lakes Drive is for sale by Expression of Interest closing 5 November 2024.
