The Eve Hotel Sydney has peeled back the curtain on some of its thoughtfully designed spaces ahead of its summer opening.

The 102-room boutique luxury hotel, which will be operated by TFE Hotels, is located within the new Wunderlich Lane lifestyle precinct.

Toga Group Managing Director and Chair of TFE Hotels, Allan Vidor, enlisted a trio of talented creatives – SJB’s Adam Haddow, 360 Degree’s Daniel Baffsky and Interior Architect George Levissianis – to execute the hotel architecture and design.

“Toga has a particular expertise in conceiving and delivering mixed use precincts, and a passion for creating thoughtfully designed spaces,” said Vidor.

“And The Eve Hotel Sydney and Wunderlich Lane precinct bring together the best of Surry Hills and Redfern into one stylish destination.”

As Principal Architects for the Surry Hills Village precinct, SJB has led the architecture and interior design for The Eve Hotel Sydney hotel, including the hotel rooms, art-filled lobby, and shared spaces.

“The design of the hotel is rooted in our understanding of place,” said SJB Director, Adam Haddow.

“It is earthy and grounded and grows from our belief that the hotel is equally about creating connection and providing reprieve.

“This is a hotel that is rooted in its location but appeals to a global market. To that end, we’ve used local designers, craftsman, and fabrics that pick up the flora and fauna of Sydney and wider New South Wales.”

Paying homage to the precinct’s former life as one of Sydney’s first pleasure gardens, established during the colonial era, is a rooftop garden – conceptualised by Baffsky – with native plants and palm trees, an all-weather rooftop restaurant and bar, and 20m pool with panoramic views over Surry Hills and Redfern.

The rooftop restaurant, which will serve up contemporary Mexican cuisine, is helmed by Sydney-based, experience-led hospitality operators, Liquid & Larder.

“We wanted to create a space that felt like an external space – surrounded by planting and absorbed into it,” said Interior Architect, George Levissianis.

“The choice of sandblasted travertines, Palladiana flooring and an exposed concrete structure aims to create this sense of texture – of being outside and located in an urban context.”

360 Degrees Founder, Daniel Baffsky, said: “This is an international hotel in a truly international city that’s filled with a rich cultural and botanical heritage.”

“The landscape we’re creating will reflect modern Sydney through the richness and range of its plant life. I always love to use an appropriate blend of plants to reflect the cultural narrative for Sydney, so there is quite a mix of natives and exotics at play at The Eve Hotel.

“Both Adam and George have such a sensitivity to landscape, and we’ve worked together to find the best possible outcome for our design.”

Throughout the hotel and wider precinct, an array of culinary experiences are on offer alongside boutique retail and health, wellness, beauty, and spa offerings.

“Every aspect of The Eve has been crafted to evoke a sense of style, sophistication, and comfort,” said TFE Hotels’ CEO, Antony Ritch.

“From the unique architectural features to the meticulously designed interiors, we are looking to create a hospitality experience that is both visually stunning and welcoming for all.”
