1 Hotel and Homes appoints Melbourne-based leadership team

1 Hotel and Homes has recruited top local and international talent for its Melbourne-based leadership team, ahead of the March 2025 opening of its first Australian property, 1 Hotel & Homes Melbourne.

Johannes Brosemann joins as Hotel Manager, following five years as Executive Assistant Manager at Brisbane’s renowned Calile Hotel. Brosemann has held senior management positions at Hilton, including two years as Director of Operations for Hilton Munich Airport and key managerial roles at Hilton Hotel Brisbane.

Libby Escolme takes up the role of Director of Marketing, bringing a wealth of experience from global and local roles for prestige brands across hotels, prop-tech, real estate, retail, services and FMCG. Escolme previously served as Global Vice President of InterContinental Hotels Group, Upscale Portfolio in London.

Elena Fragasso joins as Director of Sales at 1 Hotel and Homes Melbourne. Fragasso’s hospitality and sales career spans 15 years with prestigious corporate and lifestyle brands, including as Director of Sales for the Park Hyatt Sydney, Sales Director for W-Union Square NY, USA; Director of Sales & Marketing for Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas, and two stints with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, both in Sydney and Los Angeles.

Hotel X adds new team members to executive team

Brisbane’s Hotel X has bolstered its executive team with two new hires.

Sian Curtis joins this month as Director of Sales, and Tejal Narotam has been appointed as the hotel’s Business Development Manager.

The latest recruits join Hotel X General Manager, Jeremy Colahan, and Marketing Manager, Alannah Kanowski, who has been permanently appointed to this role following a short-term appointment.

Curtis joins the team after a decade in the Events and Sales industry, including roles with hospitality leaders the Darling Group and Melbourne Convention Centre where she served as Commercial Partnerships Manager, responsible for the development and management of long-term partnerships and driving new business. In this role, she led the project team responsible for The Lume, the world’s largest digital immersive gallery r.

“Being a Melbourne girl, the food and beverage industry is part of my DNA,” Curtis said.

“However, it is such an exciting time to join the flourishing Brisbane hospitality sector, and especially Hotel X.

“In another life, I was a ballet dancer living in Brisbane, so this feels like a home coming of sorts. This city is such a special combination of Queensland warmth, vibrant creativity and cutting-edge design.

Narotam joins the team after seven years in Canberra’s corporate sector for leading hotels, most recently serving as Business Development Manager for Doma Hotels in Canberra, overseeing five hotels under the brand.

Prior to this, Narotam worked with East Hotel as Events Coordinator and later Sales Manager.

Moxy Sydney Airport welcomes new Director of Sales and Marketing

Moxy Sydney Airport has welcomed Ari Foo as Director of Sales and Marketing this month, as the hotel marks one year since opening.

Foo brings a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, including business development and sales roles with Stamford Hotels and Resorts, Hyatt Hotels Corporation and most recently Skye Suites, where he served as Area Director of Sales and Marketing for over four years.

“I’m excited to join the Moxy Sydney Airport team at such a pivotal moment,” said Foo.

“With the hotel already making waves in the market, I look forward to building on the strong foundation and creating even more opportunities for our guests to experience the vibrant, fun, and inclusive spirit that Moxy is known for.”
