Marriott Bonvoy has secured an exclusive multiyear contract extension with Tennis Australia which will see its return as the official hotel partner for the Australian Open and official lead-in tournaments around the country.

Marriott Bonvoy will host some of the biggest names in tennis, VIP’s and tournament officials across its portfolio of hotels including The Westin in Melbourne and Perth, The Ritz-Carlton in Melbourne and Perth, W Hotels in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, Sheraton in Melbourne and Sydney, Marriott in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Hobart.

“Marriott Bonvoy is proud to join with Tennis Australia to host the world’s top tennis talent, their support teams and extensive fan base over Australia’s Summer of Tennis,” said Marriott International Area Vice President – Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Jason Nuell.

“Our strategic partnership will continue to deliver our members and guests extraordinary sporting experiences to enjoy alongside our world class accommodations connecting people from all over the world as the spotlight shines on Australia.”

The Australian Open is the most attended Grand slam globally, with more than 1,100,000 fans attending in 2024 – of which 440,000 travelled from interstate or internationally to attend.

Nuell said the partnership over the past three years has resulted in more Marriott Bonvoy sign ups, increased brand awareness and increased hotel occupancy and revenue in the company’s 10 Melbourne hotels.

“The power of the Tennis Australia partnership in 2024 saw our member penetration rising from approximately 50% to over 70% during the tournament,” he said.

“We operated at high occupancy throughout the tournament, and are currently pacing in line with last year.

“We also achieved an increase in revenue per available room year on year. Over 14 million Marriott Bonvoy points were burnt during the tournament, highlighting the interest from our global and local members in the experiences we curate as part of the partnership programming.”

Marriott Bonvoy members will gain access to money-can’t-buy events and experiences such as premium viewing tickets across marquee matches, access to Marriott Bonvoy’s private hospitality suite, exclusive tennis clinics and events with tennis legends, along with trophy photo opportunities.

“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Marriott Bonvoy,” said Tennis Australia Chief Executive, Craig Tiley.

“Just as we strive to create unforgettable moments for our fans by showcasing the world’s best throughout the Summer of Tennis across Australia, Marriott Bonvoy delivers exceptional experiences for their guests through a world-class range of hotels.

“We’re excited to bring even more innovative and unique experiences to life as our collaboration with Marriott Bonvoy grows.”
