IHG Hotels and Resorts has grown its Adelaide hotel portfolio to five with the opening of Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes on Tuesday.

The 155-room hotel forms part of a new seven-storey precinct, in which owners Pelligra and One7 have injected in excess of AU$70 million.

The hotel – reported to be the first and largest premium accommodation offering in northern Adelaide – features design-led guestrooms and suites, a locally-inspired restaurant and bar, 24-hour reception, conference and events spaces, fitness centre and onsite parking.

“We are delighted to welcome guests to experience Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes,” said Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes, General Manager, Faisal Sayed.

“Our hotel is unlike anything the region has seen and we’re confident it will attract corporate and social events alike in this vibrant part of Adelaide, identifying us as an ideal destination for work and play.

“We are also excited by the appointment of the skilled leaders in our hotel who will see this business thrive now and into the future, bringing to life the global excellence guests expect from Crowne Plaza – all with our inimitable local flavour.”

The hotel’s location, close to corporate, defence, and educational precincts, the state’s famous vineyards, and 25 minutes from Adelaide Airport and CBD, is expected to be of value to corporate and leisure guests.

Pelligra Chairman, Ross Pelligra, described Mawson Lakes as a “dynamic and evolving” area.

“Pelligra is extremely proud to establish an intergenerational asset by introducing a globally recognised brand that will firmly place Mawson Lakes on the map,” Pelligra said.

“This exciting milestone reflects our commitment to investing in the long-term growth and vibrancy of the precinct.

“Mawson Lakes is a dynamic and evolving destination, and we are thrilled to enhance its appeal by delivering a worldclass offering that will benefit the local community, businesses, and visitors for generations to come.”

The hotel’s four purpose-built conference and event spaces – spanning more than 442 square metres – feature natural light and state-of-the-art technology, catering for up to 250 guests.

Ember & Vine, the hotel’s 120-seat restaurant, is led by experienced Executive Chef Kiran Ghate, who has curated a modern Australian menu that celebrates local ingredients.
