IHG Hotels and Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio continues to grow with Hotel Indigo Auckland preparing for a soft opening of 54 rooms from Monday December 23.
A partnership with Australasian family property development, investment, and construction company, Ninety Four Feet, the 225-room Albert Street hotel is peeling back the curtain after three years in the making, ahead of a full opening expected by April 2025.
“We are thrilled to be soft opening New Zealand’s first neighbourhood-inspired Hotel Indigo property in Auckland just before the summer holidays, giving guests a taste of what’s to come in 2025,” said Hotel Indigo Auckland General Manager, Mathew Simister.
“Hotel Indigo Auckland will be the poster child for the culturally rich boutique brand in New Zealand, showcasing the storied past of its heritage motoring site through its design and artworks, to its internationally inspired dining venues.”
Once home to Dexter and Crozier car importers and known as The Motor House, the property’s history is reflected in the hotel’s design – retaining its original 1912 heritage-listed façade – artwork, and amenities.
The dining venues, slated to open from March 2025, include a French-inspired bistro café-come-wine bar, and a cocktail bar and lounge, all designed in consultation with Australian hospitality design firm Ingram Advisory.
The modern boutique hotel occupies 27 floors of a 41-storey tower – one of Auckland’s tallest buildings – that is also home to exclusive sky residential apartments and penthouses.
Located in Auckland’s midtown, close to the New Zealand International Convention Centre, opening mid-2025, and local tourist attractions, Hotel Indigo Auckland is expected to be popular with both business and leisure travellers.
Hotel Indigo Auckland is the fifth Hotel Indigo property in Australasia, joining a rapidly expanding portfolio including Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders, Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre, Hotel Indigo Adelaide Markets, and Hotel Indigo Sydney Potts Point.
