Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village

G’day Group is set to launch an expanded Discovery Parks offering at Tasmania tourist hotspot Cradle Mountain, following the acquisition of a neighbouring accommodation business.

The acquired Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village, which features 45 chalet-style rooms and the award-winning Hellyers restaurant, will be integrated into the group’s Discovery Parks next door to become Discovery Resorts – Cradle Mountain Village.

Discovery Parks – Cradle Mountain recently underwent a AU$20 million renovation to include more family friendly cabins and new premium cabins. The combined offering intends to serve as a premier accommodation and hospitality destination to capitalise on tourism demand in the region.

“Cradle Mountain is one of the most spectacular and iconic natural destinations in Australia and it continues to be a drawcard destination for both domestic and international travellers,” said G’day Group Founder and Chief Executive Officer Grant Wilckens said.

“With recent major investment in Discovery Parks – Cradle Mountain and now the acquisition of the Wilderness Village, we aim to position ourselves as the accommodation provider of choice in the region.

“We now offer options to cater to every budget and type of traveller – from overnight campsites for hikers and caravaners, to premium accommodation and dining for luxury travellers – enabling us to showcase this incredible destination to a diverse cohort of visitors.”

Wilckens acknowledges the importance of operating with care and respect for the environment and preserving the natural beauty of the area, which is the main drawcard for tourists. The business is working with Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service to enhance this appeal.

Discovery Resorts – Cradle Mountain Village will join G’day Group’s growing regional hospitality portfolio which includes El Questro, Lake Argyle and Rottnest Island in Western Australia; Wilpena Pound Resort and McCracken Resort in South Australia; Kings Canyon in the Northern Territory; and Undara in Queensland.
