Sheraton has made its long-awaited debut in Samoa with the opening of Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort, following a comprehensive multi-million dollar conversion. Owned by the Grey family, the resort is the first internationally-branded resort to debut in Samoa.
“The opening of Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort is another example of the brand’s aggressive, global expansion plan and its ability to leverage its first-mover advantage,” said Sean Hunt, Regional Vice President, Pacific, Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
“With the largest footprint among Starwood’s portfolio, Sheraton is often the first of the Starwood brands to pave the way into new markets.
“Sheraton already has a strong footprint here in the Pacific Region and this latest opening plays an important role in our overall development and growth strategy.”
Nestled on the west coast of Upolu, Samoa’s most populous and developed island in the South Pacific Ocean, Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort is just a five-minute drive from Faleolo International Airport (APW).
Surrounded by natural beauty, the beachfront property is situated along a gorgeous white sand beach; guests are invited to snorkel or dive at one of Upolu’s striking dive spots, charter a boat and spend the day fishing, swim with turtles or partake in the numerous water sports the hotel offers.
Guests can also take a stroll in one of Samoa’s lush national parks or visit one of Upolu’s spectacular waterfalls, blowholes, caves or lava fields nearby.
The resort boasts 133 luxury guest rooms, all with their own ground-floor patio or first-floor balcony, allowing stunning vistas of the tranquil Pacific. All guest rooms are outfitted with the brand’s signature all-white Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed, high speed Internet access and 42-inch flat panel televisions.
The lobby features the signature Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft, a relaxed setting where guests can stay connected with free WiFi and socialise. On site recreational facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, nearby golf facilities, a 24-hour Sheraton Fitness centre, kids club and an outdoor spa offering a range of relaxation packages.
Guests will enjoy delicious flavours from around the South Pacific and experience the region’s culinary talents at the resort’s five bars and restaurants. For a traditional Samoan affair, guests can head to the Apolima Fale Restaurant, where they will enjoy local cuisine and flavours and the resort’s signature culture show. Fia Fia, Siva and fire dancers will create the ultimate, unforgettable Samoan experience.
The resort’s Club House Restaurant provides an alternative option for those celebrating a special occasion or seeking a quiet romantic dinner setting. Located within the property grounds away from the main resort, the restaurant features a 360-degree open kitchen allowing guests to gander and gaze at the Japanese delights being created before their eyes. For guests looking for international cuisine, the newly refurbished South Pacific Restaurant, headed up by one of Samoa’s acclaimed Chef Kit Foe, provides a casual dining experience for lunch and dinner.
An ideal choice for meetings, weddings and functions, Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort offers state-of-the-art conference, business and meeting facilities. The resort’s refreshed function area and beachfront landscape provides a relaxing and scenic venue for a world-class meeting or lavish event.
