Qantas domestic economy customers will be able to enjoy a more substantial selection of hot items ranging from gourmet brekkie burgers to cauliflower bites and Mediterranean pizza with the national carrier expanding its domestic onboard food service.
Customers travelling in economy on domestic flights over two hours will now be offered a hot menu item, replacing current lighter snack options such as cheese and crackers and sweet slices.
The hot menu items include Yummy Karma scrambled egg brioche with tomato relish, Handmade Food Co. ciabatta roll with Portuguese chicken and mango lime jam, Sunny Queen carrot and pumpkin fritters and Simmone Logue artisanal beef sausage rolls.
The menu items will be rolled out over the coming weeks and have been created by Australian producers featuring premium local ingredients.
In addition to the rollout of the hot menu items, the onboard tea and coffee service will be extended into afternoon flights until 4pm.
For longer domestic sectors over three and a half hours such as Sydney to Perth, Weis ice cream bars will be offered.
Qantas Executive Manager of Product and Service, Phil Capps, said the menu changes come in response to customer feedback and form part of the Flying Kangaroo’s ongoing investment in customer experience improvements.
“These hot menu items have been created using quality Australian ingredients and we’re pleased to be rolling out a wider range of choice for customers travelling across our domestic network,” he said.
“We are always adjusting our menu in response to customer feedback and to enhance our inflight dining experience.”
